This said advice giver bestowed this piece of wisdom: Take a pre-wedding honeymoon. Now, I know you are thinking - Seriously Abby? Like we don't have a million other expenses to worry about? We are lucky to go on a post honeymoon, if one at all! But this is where Mr. C and I decided to take our own spin on things. We decided during the next few months of wedding crunch time we will try to find weekends where we can completely shade out as our pre-wedding honeymoons. Shade out = just the two of us, no blackberrys, no iphone (eekk, this might be harder), and make believe we are on vacation. I think we might try to do it this weekend if possible - maybe a date night or two, head to this weekend's Newport Polo match (surprisingly inexpensive), and soak up some sun.
What do you think? Anyone else think of trying out the pre-wedding honeymoon?

We didn't exactly do this but we certainly blew off wedding planning responsibilites in exchange for weekends at the beach and down time. It's so important since after all - what really matters is the relationship vs the wedding. All the planning will get done but it's important to remember why you are doing all of it.
thats a really good idea...take some time to refocus on the two of you.
love this idea!
What a fab idea, I seriously hadn't thought of doing that. This is quite possibly the best idea ever! And I'm not being hyperbolic! Thanks for the sharing the wisdom, darling.
Unplug, unwind... I love it! Adding into my pre-wedding musts :)
I think this is a lovely idea! My husband and I didn't do this before our wedding, but with how stressed I was at times, it would have been SUCH a good idea!!!
I think this is a fantastic idea. And, I would love love to go to Colorado for a weekend before the wedding. Fingers crossed!
Such a great idea! I think I might use this as a *post* honeymoon too- no connection to the outside world for a few days every now and then.
Sounds like a great idea! Teh husband and I give each other tech free weekends, where we shut the laptops (and he doesn't play video games) and we just spend time together. It is so easy to get busy and lost in technology even when we are sitting on the same couch together.
I just left a long comment and I think it went away. David and I did this and it was the best thing. We were able to put aside the stress of planning a destination wedding and focus on us. When we got back we were able to tackle the remainding tasks with ease. I loved it. I suggest leaving the crackberry's at home! Have fun sweets!
