I can't even believe it. I just can't. Summer is here. The sun is out. The winter is over?! I love Memorial Day weekend so so much - there is just so much promise of fabulous Summer months ahead. I just cannot wait to get my toes in the sand and a few cocktails in my hand. Just a few, promise.
What are your memorial day plans?
Plans or no plans (sometimes no plan is the best kind of plan) - here are a few lovely things that went on throughout the world wide web this week:
- This inspiration board is dreamy
- I want these window boxes
- Vintage engagement session, yes please.
- Martini bars are the new dessert bars and I am happy about that
- Loving that the nautical trend represented at the NSS
- Adorable knitting cupcakes
I miss y'all already!!

Abby

Why Thank You.
I am a big advocate of the Thank You card. Particularly when they are clever like this one. If I could, I would send these fabulous thank you cards to each and everyone of you that stop by my blog. Because I think y'all are the bomb.com.

SMP Guest Post: Puerto Vallarta
The wait is over! First up on SMP today is this destination Puerto Vallarta wedding. I have a soft spot for good ol' Puerto Vallarta because Mr. C and I had an amazing vaca there last year, but that's neither here nor there. This wedding is beautiful, and when you put bright pink flowers on a monogram, you can do no wrong in my eyes.

SMP Sneak Peak
Today is a good day. A good day indeed. I have two lovely weddings going up on Style Me Pretty later this afternoon, and as I was going through the library of images (life is hard...) I realized that each of the weddings incorporate one of Dog n' Bird's recent posts! So I thought I would give you a little sneak peak for what you have in store today.
Here are your hints. One wedding incorporates this lovely detail:

Tuesday Shoesday
I love Memorial Day Weekend. In New England, Summer is like this special occasion that everyone must make the most of while it's here, and Memorial Day Weekend is the eve of wonderful things to come - sunny beach days, dinners al fresco, boating, salt water (the curer of all ailments), early cocktail hours, and a cool Del's on a hot day are just a few of the many things I have ants in my pants about.
So with Memorial Day oh so close (I can barely sleep, it's like Christmas), I feel it's only appropriate I celebrate this Tuesday Shoesday with Memorial Day in mind. These are the lovelies I'll have packed in my bag for the upcoming weekend (please note: some, if not most, of these might be in my dream bag).
{ 1. Kate Spade / 2. Etienne Aigner / 3. Jack Rogers / 4. Rainbow/ 5. Tory Burch / 6. Havanna / 7. Corso Como / 8. Anthropologie}
And yes, I always pack way too many shoes for a three-day weekend.

Laughter Keeps us Young
I had the best birthday. The best. Thank you all for the love - it really was lovely. Mr. C and I took advantage of our spontaneously lazy weekend and planted flowers in the backyard (ok, I did this - Mr. C supervised with a beer in hand), ate lots of fabulous seafood, enjoyed endless amounts of vitamin D, picked out a few party dresses for me in Newport, had a few drinks in Newport and then went on a lovely sail in Newport. Heaven.
I mentioned before that we aren't big gift givers (but as you can see from above - we do a lot of celebrating), but Mr. C gave me the most precious/ adorable card that had to do with laughter keeping us young. Precious and very true because I am sometimes a walking clown show. Appropriately cyberspaced passed along this darling photo shoot by Wildflowers Photography, and I just had to share all the fabulous love. These two little rascals are actually in love! That makes me happy.

Happy Birthday Weekend!
Happy Friday! It just happens to be my birthday weekend as well. So double win ;)
People think Mr. C and I are a bit strange when it comes to holidays, birthdays, etc. (ok, they think we are a bit strange regardless) - we don't give gifts. We really haven't since our beginning 6 long years ago. To be honest, it has been the best thing ever. Instead we will do something together - vacations, ski trips, date nights, dollar menu dinners (thankfully those days are done), beach days, days we pretend we are in college again - you get the idea. It also allows us to be spontaneous throughout the year with random surprises - like the Lilly dress that showed up in March just because (gold star Mr. C, gold star).
So when Mr. C asked what I wanted to do to celebrate the weekend of my birth I told him all I want is a weekend of absolutely no plans. None. How luxurious is that? No dinner reservations, no social commitments just hanging out. That is my favorite kind of weekend - just floating around doing whatever suites our fancy. I can't wait.
So while I am floating around all weekend being spontaneously lazy, I will leave you with my favorite finds from around the web:
- Colored cake stands need to find their way to the Super Burbs
- Simple, yet genius
- Chickens, pitch forks and boots - oh my!
- I am going to make these in the near future...
- DIY Perfection
- I love buntings
- This is awesome
Happy weekend all! I miss you already :)
xoxo,
Abby

Sassy Headpiece
A certain very awesome someone pointed out to me that a "sassy headpiece" would be fitting for my wedding (me? sassy? never...). Then Style Me Pretty read our minds (which happens just about daily) and dropped the most fabulous wedding ever on my little lap complete with - THE Sassiest of Sassy Headpieces.
NEED.
Tell me that bride isn't just amazing....she doesn't even look real. Maybe it's the sassy headpiece?
P.S. the headpiece is from Erin Cole (who will be receiving an email from me in the near future)

You Wanna Cookie?
Let's face it. There is nothing better than a warm, gooey cookie. Even if you try to convince yourself that the carrot you are holding is sooooo much better. Regardless, I have fallen in love with the idea of having cookies as a night cap at a wedding. And secretly I bet you have too. Lucky for us, looking at cookies online has zero calories...it might actually burn them. WIN.

Tuesday Shoesday
I have a certain friend that has the luck O'Marshall's. When she walks into any Marshall's the designers must know and immediately throw amazing finds in the stores where she frequents. It's a true story. Every single time she walks into any Marshall's across the country amazing things happen. This time it worked in my favor. I got an emergency call this weekend saying she found these Badgley Mischka beauties in my size (aka boats) for $72...originally? $380. Hello rehearsal dinner shoes.
Do you have any similar fabulous footwear finds for the frugal? I love to hear about them - although I must admit I always get a bit jealous.
For more fantastic finds for your feet check out the other lovely Tuesday Shoesday ladies -Swatchbook Weddings, Gwyneth Paige, Landlocked Bride, Simply & Forever and Meant To Be Sent.

Super Burb Superlative: The Duck & Bunny
Snuggery: (snĹg'É™-rÄ“) n. a cosy and comfortable place
There are a few things you need to know about this lovely place; they have blankets for everyone at the front door, they are lovers of the chalkboard and they are masters of the cupcake. I love all of those things and I love the ampersand in their logo. And the fact they serve high tea. And their food is fantastic. I'm easy to please.
Even if you are hard to please, you will love this new little gem in Providence. I met up with a few lovely ladies for a nice little brunch on Sunday and felt like I was somewhere far, far away from Wickenden Street. I don't typically review places - but this place is worth a trip. Even a day trip. Or a weekend trip.
It's just lovely.
It's just lovely.
I am already planning my next visit, as should you...

Happy Weekend!
Last night while at my loving parent's house, the fresh flower fairy delivered fragrant bedside lilacs while we slept (sorry tooth fairy - you were totally one-upped and then some). That alone makes it a fabulous start to a weekend. I hope your weekend is full of such wonderful surprises.
Happy weekend to all and to all a good night.

Forecast Calls for Showers
Do bridal/baby showers make anyone else uncomfortable? Be honest, it's just me you're talking to. I mean, they are wonderful in so many ways but the opening gifts part, although necessary, seems to be a bit terrifying. Am I nuts? Or are you with me on this? Have you ever been to a shower where each gift wasn't opened in front of everyone? If so, was it weird?
Ok, 20 questions over. Promise.
All that being said, I love showers of any kind. Mainly because you get to hang out with people you don't see often & eat, drink and be merry. So with showers on my wedding forecast (the good kind), I thought it would only be appropriate to make it rain shower goodness today.
Or if you wanted to do something different - how awesome would a flower arranging session be? Flowers delete all awkwardness...

Do Not Erase.
It's no secret - I have a weird obsession with chalkboards. And here is the thing about me, once I start to think about something it's hard for me to let it go. So, since stumbling on the chalkboard word bubbles on Dog N' Bird - my life hasn't been the same. I have been on complete chalkboard overload - and honestly, it's been great.

Black & White Stripes
I am loving the use of B&W stripes on today's Style Me Pretty's Inspiration to Reality shoot. SO eye catching and dynamic. I just cannot get enough.
Also, I love paper. Love.

Tuesday Shoesday
I typically think with my head. Even when it comes to pretty shoes. The first thing that goes through my crazy brain when gawking over a beautiful pair of pumps is "Abby, be honest, will you be able to walk more than two feet in those puppies?" The answer is typically no, of course not.
And then I saw these:
If I wore the works of art above, I would just make Mr. C carry me around. I'm sure he wouldn't mind, and I could always change into these beauties if my feet grew tired:
