Rainy Day Events

The rain is starting to come down in the Super Burbs and it got me thinking... rain gets a bad reputation around these parts, particularly when it comes to hosting events. Don't get me wrong, a beautiful, humidity free day is what we all wish for on our wedding day - but sometimes a rainy day adds the perfect touch to an intimate wedding. Don't believe me? Well I have proof (of course).

I am so in love with the image from Christian Oth below. SO Romantic
How cute are those boots? And even cuter when they double as a pot for flowers!

Rain = a perfect excuse for some adorable props!

This wedding is just perfection. The rain actually made it even more romantic!

It's all what you make of it right? So pull out the fun boots and umbrellas and get ready for some fab photo opportunities!

Did it rain on your wedding day? Any words of wisdom for rainy day brides to be?

Tennessee Weddings by Watson Studios

What I love lately: Tennessee weddings by Watson Studios. What I love even more is the team behind the lens are husband and wife - Natalie and Dan. What I love even more than that is Natalie is the sister of one of my best college friends, Claire...and Claire is fabulous.

What I love most of all is that Watson Studios really brings Tennessee weddings to life in their photos and makes me happy I grew up there....

Happy Weekend {+Friday Favs!}

Hello, hello! I hope everyone had a fabulous week and beginning of the Fall season! I've been all over the place (per usual) this week, but I tell you what, the world wide web is cranking out some beautiful inspiration. It just makes me giddy, even after a long day. I have a long weekend of weddings and events ahead (but what's better than that!?) and these pretty things will help keep my motor running into the wee hours of the night.

I would like to live in this Lovely bridal boutique.

This Americana inspiration is perfect. And I plan on stealing that place setting for our dining table.

I love being a Gemini (even if we are crazy) and I love this board because, well, it's awesome.

I have a thing for tablecloths. I love this one. I want to make it into a chair.
 {via Once Wed}

Finally, I loved this lovely bride. I want to wear that dress to the grocery store and to run errands because it would make everything fun.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend! What do you have planned?

Miss y'all already!!

xoxo, Abby

P.S. I got my Love Shoot photos from Leila at Olive Juice Photography last night. Yep. I'm excited. They are FABULOUS.

Tuesday Shoesday

Any Tuesday Shoesday fan loves a good Manolo shoe. It's just understood greatness.  That's why I just KNEW you would all love this fabulous scarf from Liberty by Manolo Blahnik that is only available for 3 months (and only in the UK...booo).  Anyone up for a trip to London?

Sunday Suppers Pizza Party

Goal: By the end of 2011, I will attend a Sunday Suppers class. This grilled pizza class would make Mr. C love me forever.  Stay tuned to Sunday Suppers for the pretty food pictures coming up in Part II of the feature. Yum.  For now, enjoy the pretty decor pictures, because I know you love those just as much.

The Super Burbs via Kate Spade

For a little change of pace today, I thought I would show you how my imagination sees the Super Burbs through Kate Spade ads:

Picket fence - check. Nice little colonial - check.  The perfect purse for every occasion -check (ok, I said how my imagination sees the Super Burbs....not real life)

There is just something about this photo that screams Mr. C.  Maybe it's the seersucker, maybe it's the fact that the girl next to him (aka the imaginary me) is probably talking his ear off.

Oh how I wish I looked this glamorous working from home...

Tuesday Shoesday...obviously....and Holiday parties (my favorite!)

 Ok....I just think this bathroom is super cool. And I wish it was in the Super Burbs.

Kate Spade, you complete me (and the Super Burbs).

Calendar Cookies

My love for a good calendar is right up there with my love for cake stands.  Put said calendar on a cookie (with great handwriting - another favorite thing), and well, I'm a happy girl.

Think how great these would be for a Save the Date, a Baby Announcement, a Party Invitation...this list goes on and on...

You can find them here: flourpotcookies.com or call 800-281-6068. Prices start at $3.75 each, and they ship nationwide :)

New Uses for Cake Stands

There is no denying my intense love for a good cake stand. Weird, I know but I just love them. As I was organizing some of our wedding gifts, I got the idea of using some of our beautiful new cake stands all over our house.  Now, I can have the luxury of looking at cake stands without having to bake. There are now cake stands at our desk in the home office to hold important documents, a place for putting our keys when we walk in, and a place to hold brushes and hair accessories in our bathroom. Cake stands are taking over the Super Burbs, and I am absolutely thrilled.

Ahh...it really is the simple things...

Happy Weekend {+a Birthday Road trip!}

It's a big weekend in the Super Burbs, Mr. C is turning the big 3-0! We have a fun little road trip to Portland, Maine on the itinerary - although other than knowing we are heading north, we have no idea what we will actually do (love Portland? Feel free to leave some recommendations!). It's my favorite type of road trip, just stopping when you feel like stopping. I do know that we will be eating lobsters at some point...and that's all the planning this little couple needs.

As we are gallivanting up and down the East Coast, here are a few things I thought might make you smile over the weekend:

- I would like to visit Switzerland after seeing this beautiful affair

- Ummm, this bridal shower is bananas (like that Naomi?!)

- Yummy table and yummy cheese. Also, I love burlap

- I am really loving white decor these days...

Finally, a very BIG Happy Birthday to my main man, Mr. C.  Thanks for making me a Mrs.

xoxo,
Abby

Autumn Inspiration

The temperature is 10 degrees cooler than yesterday - it's as though Mother Nature realized she no longer has to work to keep the sun cooking for our summer time festivities and just let the poor thing rest a bit.  The invigorating crisp air made me realize that it's finally appropriate to start talking about pumpkins! I am in love with all things pumpkin - their color, taste, shape... everything. And because of this love affair with a fruit (yes not a vegetable - proof here), I love fall and fall parties. I thought you might feel the same way, so as I am getting ready to replace the starfish throughout my house with pumpkins I feel like it's time bring on the Autumn Inspiration. I just love orange.

Any fun parties coming up for you? What are your favorite Fall traditions?

Also, this is just a warning - I probably won't stop talking about pumpkins until December. It's a problem, I know.

Wedding Wednesday

If you follow me on facebook or twitter, you heard me shout from the rooftops last night that I am even more in love with weddings than I ever have been before.  Yes, it's true.  I don't think I ever really realized how special weddings are...don't get me wrong, I knew they were a big deal - but it wasn't until I walked in those fabulous blue wedding shoes that I really, really got it.  Now I want to give that feeling to girls and boys all over the land.  So ladies and gentlemen, I fully admit in front of you all - I am officially obsessed with weddings. I want you all to know, I am not going anywhere. I might have some exciting things on the horizon, but wedding industry....you are stuck with me :) On that note, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite wedding design inspiration from around the web so far this week.

I always love a fun ring shot, mostly when it comes from a fabulous DIY wedding like this one on Style Me Pretty

I am loving modern, white, city weddings like this one featured on Style Me Pretty.  It might be far from my own personal wedding...but I am a girl with many sides, and one of my sides is totally a chic, city girl that would have a wedding like this:
{ Maggie Harkov Photographyvia Style Me Pretty}

If you know me at all, you know I fell in straight love with this engagement shoot on Green Wedding Shoes shot by Caroline Tran.  Be still my vintage heart:

{Caroline Tran via Green Wedding Shoes}

This seersucker wedding and  invitation suite featured on Snippet and Ink has my name written all over it:

Long story short, it's been a great week so far :)

Also, if you are a photographer, planner, etc. and want to submit weddings for a possible feature on Style Me Pretty - please email me at ashaughnessy@stylemepretty.com. I'm always looking for more wedding eye candy to inspire the newly engaged (and those of us that will never shake the bug) :)

Tuesday Shoesday

Sticking with the first day of school theme of the day - there is nothing that beats a Mary Jane as the perfect back to school shoe. Mostly when that said Mary Jane is a Manolo...

One day I will own these puppies. Probably when I am 90.

Scholarly Inspiration

Labor day has come and gone, and usually I feel a huge amount of sadness when this weekend passes. However, this year I am excited to enjoy the "quieter" (my life is never really quiet) months of the year. I am looking forward to eating and drinking anything with pumpkin in the description, apple picking, chilly evenings, scarves & boots, hikes, days under the blanket with a fire...see it all sounds nice, right? And even though we don't have kids - Labor Day is the start of the "school year" for us to.  Kids in the Super Burbs (including Mr. C and I) are gearing up for a year full of fresh new starts and that's a fun thing to witness. And on that note, I thought I would pass along some scholarly inspiration for your start on the new school year - literally or figuratively.

Say Cheese!

I promise this is not a sponsored post.  I don't even have sponsors, just the moral sponsors of people that come back to the Super Burbs day after day (xoxo to you fine readers...muuuah). Anyways, I do want to start slowly leaking a few little details of our wedding that really made our guests happy.  One of these things being the fact that we decided to have the one and only Smilebooth at our wedding. It was and still is a HUGE hit with our guests (who apparently aren't camera shy...AT ALL).

We were a bit hesitant to add another expense to the wedding budget, but in hind sight - it was a good call.  Even darling Leila from Olive Juice Photography and Julie & Libby from Elysium Productions got in front of the camera for once :)

SO much fun! Thanks Smilebooth for being such a great add to our wedding night! xoxo.

I am so in love with this invitation I found on swissmiss. Please can some darling bride-to-be reading this incorporate this into their stationery story and send it to me after so I can see it come to life? Please and thank you.
