Royal Wedding Recap

Yesterday was a day little girl's dreams are made of. It was just absolute perfection. I am sure you have seen recaps all over the web, but for selfish reasons I just want to save a little piece of the perfection in my little corner of the world - because it is just proof of my theory that real life fairy tales do come true. I absolutely loved that she went classic with her own twist. I loved that her bouquet was understated yet had so much meaning behind each flower. I love how she brought her dream of an English country garden wedding into the stunning Westminster Abbey. I loved Harry and Pippa. Loved them.  They were the perfect bridal party. And don't even get me started on Pippa's gown - because it was love at first site. I loved the page boys and the flower girls. Yesterday I couldn't believe how lucky I was that my job was to watch and cover the wedding in its entirety. I loved waking up at 4am and seeing it all happen in real time. I loved being a part of the fairytale. I think we all did. Because who doesn't love a happy ending. Cheers to the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!

Rise & Shine! It's Royal Wedding Time!

Good morning Super Burbians!  What a morning it is! I will be tweeting away as the story unfolds, but in the meantime I just had to share this fabulously appropriate breakfast fit for a Queen - literally, it's her scone recipe. Cheerio!

I have SUCH ants in my pants to see how Kate (or Catherine - why do they change it to a K when abbreviating her name?) looks!!!

Royal Wedding Prettiness

There is so much royal inspiration out there today but when I saw this amazing board from Chris at Postcards & Pretties, I melted. She always is so dead on with those boards.

And then I saw this drop dead amazing shoot by Elizabeth Messina and Merryl Brown Events on Green Wedding Shoes...aren't the board and the shoot just a match made in royal inspiration heaven?? Check the entire shoot out here.

Drink Up

Really what is a wedding without a good cocktail hour? And when there is a drink as good as Pimm's Cup to help celebrate the Royal wedding - I say it's time to make like Kathie Lee and Hoda and drink pre-noon. Who's with me?

via
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 a small cucumber, sliced thin
  • 8 strawberries, sliced thin
  • 1/2 an orange, sliced thin
  • 1/2 a lemon, sliced thin
  • 1/2 a green apple, sliced thin
  • 1 quart ice
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) Pimm's No. 1 Cup
  • 3 cups (24 ounces) Sprite, 7-Up, or other clear citrus soda
  • Mint sprigs to garnish
What to do:

Layer fruit slices and ice in a pitcher. Add Pimm's and soda. Stir gently with a wooden spoon to combine. Pour into glasses making sure to get fruit and ice in each glass. Garnish with mint, and serve

Time for the Fascinator

The secret is out. I would wear a fascinator every single day if I could get away with it. I love them. I want it to be OK for me to rock these at my friend's weddings. I mean, I don't need HUGE feathers coming out of my head or anything, but I wanted to find a few that would suite my fancy. Like these Tessa Kim beauties spotted on SMP ...

or what about these pretties from BHLDN?
That being said, I have spent an embarrassing amount of time picturing myself in all of these fabulous facsinators found on Hats n Stuff ... OK, maybe feathers coming out of my head would be fun...

Royal Inspiration

I need to make a few things clear: 1.) I will be up at 4am tomorrow (for those of you who know me, this is not much earlier than I normally greet the day, because I a crazy person)  2.) I can.not.wait. to see Kate's dress and her veil. I hope she really goes with her heart on this one.  3.) I would never.ever.ever want to be in her shoes... 4.) ...but that being said, I can't wait to soak it all up :)
So, with all that in mind - I whipped up a quick little inspiration board for the TRUE Event blog based on what I think William & Kate would do if they didn't have to follow all the rules. Old school England meets the modern couple.

P.S. I hereby certify today as Royal Wedding Day in the Super Burbs. Stay tuned for a full overdose. There's your warning.

    Tulips & Symmetry

I have been craving flowers lately. Seriously craving. So as this busy, busy day comes to a close, because I cannot look at the computer any longer, these amazing images are just as soothing as can be for my soul. Who knew mixing tulips and symmetry was the key to my flower loving, OCD heart tonight?

    Happy {Good} Friday!

Good morning lovelies! We are on the eve of another holiday weekend and I am absolutely thrilled. Side note: every year around this time I think it is a good idea to buy a baby chick. Not that I have ever purchased said chick, but I really have to convince myself each year that my life is not conducive to chickens. But their little cute faces seduce me every year. I have issues. Regardless, I love this time of year because inspiration is everywhere! And with so much color! So I pulled a few of my favs from this week. The first image is of course, a chick.

Clever, creative and crafty - this fabulous spin on your typical Easter egg is to dye (haha) for. Bonus points if you have perfect handwriting like the demonstrator in the images below:

More egg inspiration - this time with they are papier mache and filled with candy (and there is a chick involved). Really anything filled with candy is my favorite. Ask my dentist. I am queen of the sweet tooths.

I love garlands. It's a problem. Thank goodness Jenny from Hank + Hunt is in my life to fulfill all my garland dreams. Case and point - this adorable bunny garland. Bunnies are right up there with chicks in my book. And one year I actually convinced my parents to get one for the family. True story - but that's for another day...

And just because I am OBSESSED with anything Sweetapolita touches and carrot cake seems appropriate for Easter weekend, here is one of her stunning cakes. Which almost looks too good to eat...almost.

Happy weekend everyone! However you are spending it!

    Parties & Puppies

This is how my mind works (warning, I am nuts). I woke up this morning thinking of confetti (who does that?) So I created this board for this TRUE Event blog post. A confetti themed party - how fun and messy would that be? Oh the fluttering in my head never really stops. So that's all well and good until I came across the last image in this board - the puppy. Go ahead, scroll down - he is BEYOND cute. And he is lying in confetti. Win.

So then my brain went straight to puppies. Like a beeline to "I need to see more cute puppy faces and Otto is outside - so what do I do?!?!"... panic attack. Since I was already building boards on the good ol' SMP board builder I thought - why not build one to inspire (aka get my own personal puppy fix) people that are looking for ways to incorporate their pooch on their big day. So get ready for come cuteness. Are you incorporating your pup on the big day? Or did/would you?

OK, I think my mind can finally rest. For approximately 2.5 seconds.

    A White House.

Let me let you in on a little dream of mine - a little white house. Ok, not a legit white house, but a house with only white decor. Of course there would be different textures, etc. but just white. And this house would be a little (the smaller the better) beach cottage with sand in all the crevasses which I wouldn't clean up because that is just part of the white house appeal. Otto would run around the white house and magically not get anything dirty. I would wear pretty, flowy white dresses and Mr. C would wear linen. The white house would have wide board floors and be uber casual other than a massive chandelier hanging in the open kitchen. Are you with me? Well in this white house, I would totally throw this lovely party spotted on hello naomi.

And apparently there is even more to come. I cannot wait. Seriously.

    Tuesday Shoesday

I looooved this wedding on Style Me Pretty yesterday, and I absolutely adore these shoes. Maybe it's the sassy & girly bow or maybe it's the tea length dress the GORGEOUS bride rocked with them, whatever it was - it was love at first site. Easter Lunch with Gwyneth Paltrow

Now this is a lunch I would LOVE to attend. Gwyneth, if you throw another lovely event feel free to send an invite my way. I am just in love with the elegant, yet simple take on Easter. It makes my heart happy. That amazing farm table also makes me happy... so does that cute bird tea towel and Gwyneth's amazing hair. Ok, so can you tell I love this?

    Happy Weekend

As I mentioned before, it's a weekend of showers of the baby variety this weekend in the Super Burbs and I am tickled pink. Both of the mama's to be are just such fabulous people, and I can't even wait to meet their mini me's in May. I hope you have a extra sweet weekend as well whatever you might be up too. Miss y'all already! xoxo

p.s. I am LOVING this baby shower

    Tea for Two

Morning ladies and gentleman! This upcoming weekend is a big one in the Super Burbs. A weekend full of baby showers, one of which I was asked to help plan...and you know I love that! My darling divas in the kitchen, Kara and Elizabeth, will be taking care of the goodies so I am super excited to pretty it all up!  Now that the weekend is quickly approaching, I thought it would be fun to finally give the Mom-to-be a little teaser of what she is in for on Saturday in the Super Burbs. We are so excited to show you what we've been up too!

And for even more sugar and spice, here is a little board I whipped up for the TRUE Event blog because Sarah and I are both planning girly get-togethers for this weekend. Being girly is so fun sometimes :)

    Tuesday Shoesday

I have a new obsession - mix match bridesmaid shoes. Just love them. Pops of color and personality all in one little fashion choice for your little ladies. Best part? It can work for any wedding "type" - from super formal to laid back chic - stylish just always works. What do you think? Would you / are you switching up the shoes for your bridesmaids?

    Bathroom Bliss

Spotted this beauty of a bathroom on Table Tonic and just had to give it a little more blog love. I get tickled pink (or yellow in this case) when rooms have personalities - and this one most certainly does. From the pixeled floor to the bossy reminders in the shower, this little lav is the perfect start for your Monday.

    Happy Weekend!

I swear I blinked on Monday and then wallah - it was Friday. I swear that seems to happen every week now. Did you have a fabulous week? Any lovely plans for the weekend? Whatever you find yourself getting into, I hope it is simply fabulous.

    The Masters

It's a big weekend here in the Super Burbs - a weekend unlike any other you might say. The Masters. I personally love it for many reasons (the soft voices make for fabulous naps), but the biggest reason of all is it means warm weather is so so so so close. So in honor of this unofficial holiday weekend, here's a little inspiration with Mr. C's name written all over it. We were sooooooo close to hosting a Master's Party this year. Mark my word - it's happening next year.

Spring Shoot by Yuna Leonard Photography

Let it be known, I check out the website of each and every person that follow the 'burbs on twitter. It's the least I can do if you are following all of my blabbering. And I am so glad I do, because I have become privy to some fabulous talents. Case and point Yuna Leonard. She sweetly followed me, and I then spent an embarrassing amount of time on her inspirational site. I can't help but love her energy and her work, and I think you'll feel the same way. This vintagey spring photo shoot is a perfect example of why it was love at first site (of her website, that is).
