Happy Tuesday! Did you have a fabulous long weekend? Let's get this short week off to a very pretty start with some g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s Valentino shoes from this gorgeous Manhattan wedding on the SMP New York Weddings blog. Do you love, or do you LOVE?
I've mentioned many times that Memorial Day Weekend is one of my absolute favorite weekends. We are typically beach bound as soon as the clock hits 5 PM on Friday. However, this year as we were packing up getting ready to head to the sandy shores, Mr. C got an email that put a little (big) kink in our plans. I have to admit, at first we were pretty bummed. I may have stomped up the stairs like a 2 year old, and I think Mr. C. chucked his blackberry (which Otto then fetched). But then things started to turn. I became a huge pollyanna, and soon Mr. C followed. I mean, it was sunny out, we didn't have to work the entire weekend, our refrigerator was full of adult beverages, there was meat to be grilled, flowers to be planted, fire pits to sit by and best of all it meant in between conference calls and emails, we got to just hang out together. You know what? It's turned out to be a pretty amazing weekend. Imagine that.

How has your weekend been? Hopefully it's still not over :)
Oh y'all, this is my absolute favorite weekend of the year. Memorial Day Weekend is just the promise of so many warm, fabulous days ahead. And after what seemed like the longest winter of all time, the weather men and women of New England are actually predicting sun. Lots of sunshine. So I am super pumped beyond words. So at 5am this foggy morning (I love foggy summer mornings) I pulled this little board together because I absolutely cannot wait for the weekend to begin. Happy Summer!!

I also have to welcome baby Abigail into the world!!! I got a text this morning right as I opened my eyes to conquer the day that another Abby was born - how fun is that?
I am also waiting with baited breath for another A-Team member to join the crew. Baby Lipman is trying to get her pretty little self into this world as I type and I just can't wait to meet her!
Folks, I have the coolest job ever. Seriously. And I think I work with some of the coolest people on the planet. Today I spent the day at Style Me Pretty Headquarters while CBS Sunday Morning (true story) interviewed the Larson's about all things SMP. True Life: I'm a blogger, style. It was all bright lights and microphones as all sat down and chatted all the pretty things on our plates. Can I also say, that I have been working with Abby and team SMP since like before December 2009 and this is the first time I got to see all of their pretty little faces. I could have cried. I mean, I am in constant communication with these folks (seriously, we have like 15 different ways of chatting) but seeing them face to face was just fabulous and now they can never get rid of me. Anywho, it was a really cool day. One for the books. And one that solidified I am doing exactly what I need to be doing. Also, I love their dog Chloe. Don't tell Otto.
Sorry these are iphone pictures...and taken by me...which equals poor quality.
As soon as I know when it is airing and I'll be sure to spread the word. To check out a much better recap with much better photos (thanks to Tait) check out the Backstage Post here.
My internet stopped working for some strange reason this morning. This is typically a bad thing since my whole entire world (ok, I exaggerate) typically revolves around the internet from 9-5 (ok more like 5 -9). However, today the sun was SHINING. Like, shining hard. So hard my pasty, Irish, pale from a overly hard New England winter skin started to burn just looking at it. But I needed the internet so I could bring you prettiness, so I took my little Irish self to the middle of the backyard (with Otto) sat in the grass and stole my neighbors internet. All.day.long. That's the thing about the Super Burbs, borrowing internet is like the new borrowing a cup of sugar.
So perhaps me and my grass stained, vitamin D-filled self will get up to see if the world wide web is working in the house. Or maybe I'll just grab a glass of wine and start grilling. Remind me again how I last all winter? Summer is the absolute best.
On a completely random note, this is Otto being Otto. We can't make this stuff up folks.
I would love to say I am a "wear high heels on all occasions" type of girl, but I'm an honest gal and that just isn't my gig. My feet are weary and flats are where it's at for me in the summer time. So in honor of my favorite holiday of the year (because it means Summer is finally here) - here is a little round up of the flat variety. And they all happen to be Kate Spade, because I love her and we are besties.
P.S. Christina and/or Lisa - I would love a phone call from either of you today telling me one of your sure to be beautiful babies arrived on this very festive day :) I will be waiting by the phone patiently...
This week went by faster than I can eat a tub of hummus (strange fact, I think I can survive solely on hummus alone, Mr. C can confirm this). Although the weather is straight crap and other bad words I don't like to say, I've loved this week. I am really doing my best to get back to basics, to stop and smell the lilacs so to speak, and hone in on the pretty. I mean, if the world is ending tomorrow according to some folks, I might as well enjoy it right?
I would be happy with any amount of sunshine this weekend - via.
Monday also just happens to be my lil ol' birthday - and since we might not make it to Monday (well that, and we have to work on Monday), Mr. C and I are "celebrating" over the weekend. "Celebrating" to me = no plans whatsoever. For a person who loves parties - I like them better when they are for other people. My version of the perfect birthday is no absolutely no plans, a bloody mary (or 3), hanging out with Mr. C and going wherever the wind decides to take us. I hope you have an equally fabulous weekend, until then, here is a little board of my lovely week through the eyes of instagram. Love that freakin' app.
clockwise:
Fabulous peonies finally grace the Super Burbs
Otto's innocent face after I caught him bringing every.single.throw rug in the house to one happy place - the guest room.
The kitchen island has changed again (it's a constantly changing place in our house)
Otto and his BFF Croix on their way to the groomers. You can't tell it, but they smell like dead animals. Joy. Also, Otto is the hooligan crawling over the seat. We are great parents.
It's been a rainy mess in New England lately, but everyday on my run I get a little glimmer that my favorite time of year is here thanks to the lovely lilacs. Really is there a better Spring smell? Once I get a whiff of that pretty flower, I am instantly happy with thoughts of Memorial Day weekend, sun dresses & jack rogers, BBQs with sand in your toes, amazing friends, inside jokes, beach bonfires, lobsters, cocktails outside (cocktails inside), laughing so hard at night I wake up sore, big girl bottles of wine on the boat, Del's, whiffle ball tournaments (that I watch), grass stains, long runs in the salt air, and the chance for Mr. C and I to go back to acting like kids again.
How is everyone on this gloomy Tuesday? I am starting to feel normal again after last week's crazy whirlwind. The Big Sisters of RI gala was beautiful, everyone was happy and I finally got some rest. I really can't wait to share pictures! But we have shoes to talk about today - and talk about shoes we shall. My little heart lept when I saw this adorable affair on SMP California but what really did if for me was the flower girls in cowboy boots. Love. Does it get more adorable? Nope, it sure doesn't.
I'll never be able to repay you for the last few days of you being you. I couldn't imagine having anyone else by my side for hours on end as we transformed a boring ballroom into something we both could be proud of, and sat for hour after hour arranging grocery store flowers into centerpieces that met our (judgmental) approval surviving only on pretzels (oops). Thank you for genuinely enjoying every minute of the process, thank you for understanding how my crazy head works and thank you for passing on your love for parties, flowers and styling. I will never be as good as you - but I am just honored to know that you think I have any taste at all. I am a lucky girl.
Daugther #3, Abby Blaire with the yellow hair.
P.S. The Peter Beaton hat is all yours. I hovered over that thing like a hawk in the silent auction room. It was the least I could do.
OK, not much time here...but if I had an unlimited budget for the gala in Newport I posted about yesterday (inspiration board here), how amazzzzzinnnngggg would nautical cake from The Caketress be for it!? Correct answer: Pretty darn amazing.
Once again, things get quiet in the Super Burbs because I am running around (or emailing/working/crafting) like a chicken with my head cut off. This is a big weekend, I am designing the annual Big Sisters of RI Gala in Newport, and as we come down the final stretch my brain is on high gear. Not to mention the SMP local blogs are kicking some serious booty, and we are loving every minute of it. To hold you over until I find some downtime (is there such a thing?), I thought I would share the inspiration behind all the fun that will be going on in Newport on Saturday night.
Happy Monday folks! Did you have a fabulous weekend? My weekend was full of the things I love most - family, sunshine and hanging out. We went to visit my (ridiculously cute) nephews, and it's funny how kids will quickly make you realize the gear you are operating in is not necessary. It was also a good reminder that I need to sllloooooowwww down. Life is too short. Anywho, before we left on Friday my little Ten Tidbits went up in lights on SMP's Backstage blog so I thought I would share it here as well. Check it out here!
I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
I love Cinco de Mayo for many reasons - the absolutely fabulous mix of bright colors, margaritas for all, it means May is finally here with the hope of pretty weather, and then - the chips and salsa. My #1 food weakness. I can never get enough. Are you doing anything to celebrate today?
Yesterday was quite the day at Style Me Pretty - we launched the first installment of our local blogs! It was definitely a labor of love and seeing them live finally was just fabulous. The lovely Sweet Emilia Jane and I will be heading them up, so spread the word and come visit often! Another pretty hat to wear - why not?!
So go get your bookmarks ready - here are the links for the first few local blogs!
Let me admit something, I am still a little too consumed with all things Royal Wedding. I shouldn't own up to this considering it happened last week, but I have a feeling you kids understand. Anywhoo, people have been saying that Pippa's dress was quite the statement because it was white and bridesmaids just never do that. Well, those people must be hiding under a wedding rock because some of my favorite weddings on SMP these days are the ones with bridesmaids in white or ivory. Case and point, this line up of lovelies and their sparkly shoes. Now those are shoes they can totally wear again!
* It goes without being said, I secretly hope Kate and Pippa wore some seriously stylish shoes under those pretty gowns. Has anyone seen pictures yet?
